Teddy’s Story

Age at diagnosis: 10 months

Breed: English Springer Spaniel

Teddy was a fun-loving puppy and full of energy. He became lethargic after his usual morning walk, then he had to be hand-fed his lunch, and by dinner time he was refusing food and water. He was taken to the vet the following morning where he was admitted due to dehydration. They ran various tests - bloods, X-rays - and when these didn't reveal anything, a CT scan and spinal tap were performed. Through this, SRMA was diagnosed and steroids started. He came home and within days he showed signs of improvement, his dose has been reduced and I'm led to understand that the steroids will be slowly tapered over the next 6 months.

Teddy is part of The Theo Project's canine meningitis registry - a growing global collection of MUE, MUO and SRMA stories shared to help families facing this diagnosis.
