Mattie’s Story

Age at diagnosis: 9 months

Breed: Boxer

Mattie was a normal, happy boxer puppy until one day when she suddenly wouldn't get out of bed. She was a little more tired the evening before and then suddenly that morning she wouldn't move and would yelp if she did. We took her to our vet who did several tests but was unable to determine what was wrong. Initially she was treated with antibiotics. The next night she was considerably worse and we took her to the emergency vet. At that point we were able to tell the pain was in her neck area and they referred us to another emergency vet that could do an MRI. She was admitted and remained there for a couple of days and the neurologist determined she had SRMA.
