Cookie’s Story

Age at diagnosis: 4 years

Breed: Malshi

From the moment we met her, we knew without question that Cookie was meant to be part of our family. Cookie is a Malshi - a mix of Shih Tzu and Maltese. We were told she would stay under 10 pounds, but she happily keeps us guessing at around 11.

Throughout this journey, Cookie has shown us just how strong and resilient she is. After experiencing a relapse in mid-March 2025, she has thankfully remained symptom-free since the end of March.

She still loves all of her favorite things: going for walks, playing with her toys, performing tricks for treats, chasing anything that enters "her" yard, meeting new people, and most of all, enjoying evening rides in Daddy's car when the weather cools down.

Life has certainly changed since her diagnosis, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Cookie brings so much love, joy, and personality into our lives, and we are grateful for every moment with her.

Cookie is part of The Theo Project's canine meningitis registry - a growing global collection of MUE, MUO and SRMA stories shared to help families facing this diagnosis.
